UPDATE: A fire in Lowder Hall early Monday morning has caused, “significant damage to multiple classrooms, offices and student spaces” said Provost of Student Affairs Timothy R. Boosinger in a email to all students.
Boosinger continues in the email, saying that while the core structure remains intact, the damage to the ground floor and the first floor will close Lowder and all classes will immediately be relocated to various classrooms on campus. All changes have been updated through AU Access, if you have a class, please check immediately.
A formal investigation has opened up by Auburn Fire and Police as well as the State Fire Marshall’s office. When asked on scene if any updates could be given, Auburn Fire could not comment at the time. The long term damages still remains unknown and Boosinger and his staff will work with other departments to make sure that classes in the fall are “minimally disrupt the academic mission of the university.”
