Guys: A new pick up line... Cytomegalovirus!

Kissing prevents diseases! You heard me correctly kissing saves lives and extends life. According to this article, kissing was invented to build a woman's immunity from Cytomegalovirus, which is dangerous in pregnancy. During a kiss this bug is past from men to woman through saliva, normally this bug is harmless to adults but extremely dangerous if caught while pregnant. It can kill unborn babies or cause birth defects.

AU Rhythm wins "Bounce" dance competition Friday night in Tuskegee, AL

This past Friday night, AU Rhythm beat out 8 other teams, including the University of Alabama, from around the country for first place and a grand prize of $1000. We as a team have been preparing for this competition for a little over a month now. We have had practice almost every night in high hopes that we would dominate the competition. It was AU Rhythm's first ever competitive competition, so it was a really big deal for everyone. We didn't really know what to expect, but we knew the competition we faced from the other dance teams was going to be very high. Every single team was incredibly talented, and it was an amazing experience to not only perform, but to see what other teams from around the country had been preparing for in their routines as well.

Kindle vs. Nook: A Battle of the E-Readers

It seems like almost everyone around us has some sort of smart phone that keeps them connected to their contacts, email, and the web. The question that arises is how will people choose to take their news and books with them. While Amazon was by no means the first to launch an e-reader, the Kindle, released in November of 2007, was one of the first devices that really gave credibility to the idea that digital e-readers might be the future of portable news and book content. The Kindle offers impressive features like battery life measured in days, the ability to store thousands of books, and lifetime 3G wireless connectivity for downloading new content. On Tuesday, October 20, Barnes and Noble announced their new e-reader, the Nook.

Feeling Dangerous.... Go Shopping!

Hey everyone I ran across another article that caught my attention. I'm not usually into fashion and being a man I don't like shopping or trying on clothes. However there is a line of clothing that lets me keep my masculinity and feel like James Bond all at the same time. Two words... Bullet Proof! We know about bullet proof vests police and other important people wear to stay alive. Well the next evolution in bullet proof clothing is being made. Here is the link to the article:

Meth Lab Bust in Montgomery October 12

Around 1:00am Monday, guests of an extended stay hotel in Montgomery,Alabama were forced out on the street until hours later that morning. Guests were forced out of the hotel due to a meth lab bust. The two suspects, Siubo Souvannasing, 31, and Starr Sullins, 23, were arrested and charged with Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance at the America's Best Inn in Montgomery while other guests remained uninformed while sleeping in their rooms. Just after 1:00am Monday, hotel security reported a strong odor coming from the room and called police to the scene. Once the police arrived they discovered an operational meth lab and that's when guests were forced to evacuate the hotel. As guests remained outside, a specialized DEA unit based out of Birmingham had to come in and clean up the scene.

More reasons not to get drunk... and fight!

Often men dressed as women fool no one, except drunk guys. A couple of days ago, BBC and CCTV got footage of two men dressed as women getting harassed by two drunk men. The incident ended with the two drunk men getting pummeled by the cross dressed men, who happened to be professional cage fighters. The cage fighters were celebrating a stag night and on their way to a nightclub.I ran across an article explaining the situation and watched the video of the infamous incident. Of course they blame George W. Bush... Who doesn't!

Friday October 2nd, four possible cities were voted to see who would host the 2016 Olympics. Before that day, you probably heard all the news of different celebrities and of course the President traveling and promoting Chicago to host those Olympics. I personally think if Chicago hosted the Olympics it would be bad news for the rest of the country. It would take billions of dollars to host the Olympics and if you haven't heard we are in a recession. I don't think it would be a wise move to house something so massive while the economy is still healing. But that is besides the point, if you watched the voting then you saw Chicago got the least amount of votes and was eliminated first. People in Chicago took the news badly to say the least. Well I found an article in the Chicago Sun-Times:

Divers Make a Splash at Auburn

Auburn divers have a fierce devotion to a sport that not many people have the talent for. Diving requires a large amount of effort, time, and especially talent- just ask Kelly Marx or Thad Ellis, two students at Auburn University.
These two young men spend their college lives being attentive to their goals. Long days and early practices are all devoted to the desire for championships and titles. Moreover, the hard work shows, especially with the numerous titles and honors they have received as a result of their diving career.

AU Rhythm

As of about a month ago, I am now a member of AU Rhythm, Auburn's competitive/performance hip hop dance team. We perform at various events throughout the community and on campus, as well as basketball games, volleyball games, gymnastics meets, etc., and hopefully this spring we will be going to 106 Park on BET in New York City. Though the team was not founded until 2004, the program has made tremendous amounts of progress since it began in 2004. This month alone, we are competing in 2 dance competitions, one in Tuskegee and one in Huntsville. We also have 4 different dance performances scheduled this month as well. Normally, we have practice on Sunday and Thursday nights from 7-9pm, but starting October 4th we begin practice everyday in order to be ready for the busy month(s) ahead.
