ROTC 5k Mud Run

Saturday, April 3rd, the Auburn Naval ROTC will host the 1st Annual Amphibious Warrior 5K Mud Run and the Marine Recon Ten-Mile Challenge. 20% of the Mud Run proceeds will benefit the "Wounded Warrior Project," an organization providing aid to severely wounded veterans serving overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world.

The Mud Run begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and encourages members of the Auburn community including Auburn students, sororities, fraternities, local businesses, organizational clubs, ROTC and JROTC units to join the muddy Marine Corp challenge.

Lebo Finished as Auburn Men’s Basketball Head Coach

Auburn Head Coach Jeff Lebo has been dismissed from the men’s basketball team. The announcement came Friday from Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs.

"I want to thank Coach Lebo for all that he has done for Auburn University over the past six years," Jacobs said. "Coach Lebo has worked hard and has always represented Auburn with character, class and integrity. However, we feel like the time has come for Auburn basketball to move in a new direction. We deeply appreciate all that he and his staff have done for Auburn, and we wish each of them and their families nothing but the best."

Auburn University Outreach receives grant from State Farm for college prep initiative at Loachapoka High School

AUBURN - Auburn University's outreach division has received a $58,000 grant from the State Farm Youth Advisory Board, or YAB, to develop a service-learning based preparatory program at Loachapoka High School to help students enter and perform better in college, and ultimately qualify for better jobs. Auburn was one of 82 organizations to receive a grant from across the U.S. and Canada. There were more than 1,100 grant proposals submitted for this year’s YAB grants.

Auburn Hosts the Alabama Germany Partnership's Annual Dinner and Business Forum

Auburn, Ala. - Auburn will host the AlabamaGermany Partnership's (AGP) 12th Annual Dinner and Business Forum. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, with over 250 guests expected from throughout the state, including Alabama Governor Bob Riley, Representative Mike Hubbard and Auburn Mayor Bill Ham. The dinner will be followed on Thursday by the AGP's Business Forum from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The AlabamaGermany Partnership is an organization dedicated to fostering the cooperative relationship between the business communities in the State of Alabama and Germany. According to the AlabamaGermany Partnership, German companies employ an estimated 12,000 Alabamians directly.

Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. Declares Saturday, February 6 "The Big Event Day"

Auburn, Ala. - Mayor Bill Ham, Jr. has declared Saturday, February 6, 2010 "THE BIG EVENT Day" in the City of Auburn in recognition of the Auburn University Student Government Association's (SGA) one-day, student-run service project. Student volunteers will be participating in a number of community service projects during the event, including a downtown clean-up, litter pick-up, storm drain marking project, and data entry for the City's veterans brick mapping project.

"Auburn's Got Talent" Do you?

WLTZ NBC 38 in Columbus, Georgia is teaming up with 99.9 KATE FM and EAGLE 93.9 in Auburn, Alabama to give local residents and students a chance at stardom with “WLTZ’s Got Talent” competition. "WLTZ's Got Talent" winner will have the opportunity to perform for the producers of the NBC hit show, America’s Got Talent!

The contest will take place at Village Mall in Auburn, Friday, January 29th from 11 a.m.-3p.m. CST. Contestants can register online at www.wltz.com. Contest is limited to 38 entries and the deadline to enter is midnight on Friday, January 22.

Winning act will go on to audition for producers of America’s Got Talent in Atlanta in February.

Tigers to Take on WildCats

Auburn Tigers are set to take the Northwestern Wildcats in this years Outback bowl. This came as a surprise as Wisconsin had been a rumored match-up. This is the first time the two teams have met and both had solid last games.
Auburn showed strong to the the number 2 Alabama and Northwestern won the upset against 24 ranked Wisconsin 33-31. Northwestern is looking for its first post-season win since the Rosebowl in 1949.

Arby Fields is the WildCats leading rusher with 294 yds and 5 touchdowns. The Northwestern defense gives up an average of 123.5 rushing yards a game and they are tied ninth in the FBS with 16 interceptions.
