AM I A TWIT ,OR WAIT IS IT A TWITTERER?...

Am I the only one who can’t keep up with the pace at which new technology is being released?

I feel like within the last year, I have completely fallen behind. I got an email from a professor recently that we will be using Twitter in our course. I don’t even have a Twitter. I have never used Twitter. I understand the basic concept because I watch the news and constantly hear of other’s tweets. I have no clue how to actually begin to use it though. The way that these sites, which were originally intended for social purposes, have evolved is absolutely fascinating to me. It’s so crazy to me when I really think about how quickly trends in technology change and how long it takes me to figure it out. Myspace became really popular when I was in high school. It seemed to be a complete social network for mostly high school and college students. There were a few random adults I knew through my parents or church with a Myspace, but it was a rarity. Now most of my friends are exclusively on Facebook which has become a medium for socializing, networking, and marketing. Not only are my friends on Facebook, but so are their parents and grandparents. Yes, grandparents. Was anyone else a little freaked out when their parents got a Facebook? It’s not that I had anything to hide or didn’t want to talk to my parents through Facebook. It was just weird. That weirdness eventually faded though. Even more recent is the Twitter craze. I have yet to jump on that bandwagon. When I was thinking about this earlier it made me wonder when I will get to the point where my parents and my grandparents are. When my parents were in college, they didn’t have personal computers and cell phones, much less Facebook and Twitter. Where will we be 20 years from now? 25? Honestly I can’t even imagine. For now I will stick with trying to figure out Twitter. Please, wish me luck!
