AAA has started a nationwide campaign this week to pass federal and state laws banning text messaging while driving in all 50 states by 2013. Currently, states including Alaska, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, Washington and The District of Columbia have all approved legislation banning drivers from text-messaging while driving. But as for Alabama, the recently introduced "text-message while driving" bill that passed in the House, hit a red light in the Senate last session. According to Auburn Public Safety Director, Bill James, "regulating text-messaging while driving would be nearly impossible to enforce; it's not a realistic law."
This week Eagle Eye looks into the dangers of texting behind the wheel and why you may want to reconsider sending that quick "reply text-message" while driving.
