Cam Newton Eligible
Auburn University's quarterback, Cameron Newton, was ruled ineligible by the Auburn University Athletic Department only to have him officially reinstated as an eligible student-athlete in the eyes of the NCAA. By rule, the NCAA can not name a player eligible if he/she has never been stated as an illegal participant under NCAA rules prior.
War Eagle faithful, internet Blogs, and ESPN have come out to share the news. Now, this does not mean the investigation is over. Cameron's father, Cecil Newton, is still under investigation for possibly taking money from Auburn and/or Mississippi State. Gene Chizik, Auburn Athletics, and Cameron Newton were cleared of any knowledge of Cecil's actions with Kenny Rogers (High School to College Athletic Agent).
A Healthy Reform?
The recently passed health care reform bill has caused uproar in our nation. There are two major sides to the argument- those in favor of its passage and those opposed. One major pro, obviously, is that all Americans will be able to receive health coverage in some form, depending on the risk associated with the individual. However, these benefits will undoubtedly come at a price, and a high one to wealthy Americans. Moreover, the bill is extensive and detailed, making it difficult for some citizens to understand. Also, with the apathetic pandemic that has been spreading through our country, several Americans do not know, nor do they care to learn about the bill. However, the taxes will exempt no one.
Chit Chat with Kit Kat: The Academy Awards
The Academy Awards are taking place this Sunday, March 7. In honor of the biggest night in cinema, I asked Auburn students what their favorite movies and movie stars of the year were. We also find out where students would display an Oscar statuette if they won an Academy Award. Check it out!
IMPACT Auburn
Impact is a student-led organization that many students unfortunately do not know about. Summer mission trips are common among college students involved with their local church congregations, but what many of them do not know is that an opportunity to serve exists right here on their very own campus. University students go out into our community on a weekly basis, serving children, the elderly, those who cannot read, and many others with various needs. It is not difficult to get involved; two Auburn students, Clark Roper and Quanecia Beasley, share their own stories as leaders of the organization.
The Bachelor- Have you been taking notes?
In my quest to find the true 'human experience,' I have stumbled across a realization that not only discourages my pursuit but leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. As a college male, I live my life in hopes of meeting people, making connections, and developing lasting relationships to ultimately (hopefully) only better myself. As ABC's 'The Bachelor' finally comes to an end; I am anxiously anticipating the end of the mindless reviews and recaps I have found myself listening to for the past few weeks. It's as if every girl I have met in the past two months has coordinated her own life around the lives of the bachelor and his search for love. Honestly, I'm just really sick of hearing about Jake and his love life.
